A delegation from Istanbul Nişantaşı University, headed by Dr. Levent Uysal, Chairman of the Nişantaşı Education Foundation, and composed of Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Komsuoğlu Çıtıpıtıoğlu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Efe Can Gürcan of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences (İİSB), FutureX Institute Director Başak Yılmaz, and Visiting Researcher Dr. Serdar Yurtçiçek, carried out an intensive academic visit program in Beijing and Shanghai between November 21–25, 2025. Within the scope of the visit, important contacts were made with leading Chinese universities regarding institutional cooperation, academic exchange, and joint research opportunities.
The delegation's first stop, Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), stood out with its history spanning more than half a century and its status as one of the world's largest centers for teaching Chinese. At the meeting held at the university, which is referred to as a "Smal United Nations" due to its multinational student body, various academic cooperation models were evaluated, particularly in language and culture programs. This was followed by meetings with the Turkey Studies Center at Shanghai University (SHU), whr a comprehensive assessment was made on global history, Turkey studies, and joint research projects.
The visit to Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance, meanwhile, was the setting for productive discussions on potential joint programs and student exchange in the fields of finance, accounting, and fintech. At Fudan University, the delegation's final stop, a high-profile meeting was held on Middle Eastern studies, international relations, and areas of China–Turkey academic interaction. Fudan, which ranks among China's top 10 universities, is also a member of the C9 League, placing it among the country's most prestigious research universities.
The contacts made carry strategic importance for strengthening the cooperation network of the Center for Advanced Chinese Studies, which is currently being established within Istanbul Nişantaşı University. This center, which will be the first of its kind in Turkey, aims to conduct interdisciplinary research on Chinese politics, economy, society, and foreign policy. Assoc.
